Meet the Team

Born and raised in Seattle, Ruby is a lifelong lover of the Pacific Northwest. Jason, born and raised in California, found his way to the PNW and quickly discovered a deep, abiding love for its forests, mountains, coastline, and endless opportunities for adventure. Together, we share a deep appreciation for both discovering new places and finding the magic in familiar ones, and that sense of wonder is something we bring with us to every wedding and every photograph.

Ruby and Jason came together in 2018, and for years, their photography journey looked a lot like taking far too many pictures of their cats. Eventually, they decided they were ready to step it up and turn their shared love of photography into something more.

Ruby had always found herself drawn to photographing people. As an anthropologist at heart, her curiosity about people, their stories, and the traditions that shape our lives naturally led her toward weddings. There is something about bringing people together to celebrate a life and a love that has always sparked her creativity.

Jason brings a different perspective to the team. While Ruby is often focused on the people, emotions, and little moments unfolding in front of the camera, Jason lives a little more on the technical side. He is often the first person you will hear from when you inquire with us, helping with emails, planning, and all of the behind-the-scenes details that keep things running smoothly. Over the years, he has also grown into portrait photography and now serves as Ruby’s second shooter at every event.

Together, we are Mahlers Photography. We believe your wedding photographs should feel as personal and meaningful as the day itself. We take the time to notice the little things, anticipate the moments that matter, and document your celebration in a way that feels true to you.

Born and raised in Seattle, Ruby has always had a deep love for the Pacific Northwest. Jason grew up in California before finding his way north and falling in love with the forests, mountains, coastline, and adventures that make this place home. After they met in 2018, and what started as taking far too many photos of our cats eventually became Mahlers Photography.

With Ruby’s background in anthropology and Jason’s technical eye, two different perspectives are brought to every wedding. Ruby is drawn to the people, stories, and emotions, while Jason helps bring everything together behind the scenes and joins as a second shooter.
